iPad production is set – iPad 2 start already early 2011?
If the current rumors were right, then Apple is the iPad 2 well in the spring of 2011 on the market at some point, possibly as early as February. It would be interesting then to see how Apple iPad will proceed with the first, same as Apple has several options to choose from.
Option 1: Apple lowers the price
The easiest way would be to lower the price of the first generation of the iPad. Since iPad in the ratio of production costs and final price may drop the lowest profit margin, Apple would lose a lot of money if you iPad in price cuts. Especially since Apple is facing another problem which is associated with a decrease in price. Lowering the price, for example, around 100 €, then, the customers are very convinced to buy the older model, if the get iPad 2 then, once you the 100 € extra cost in purchasing takes.
Apple would lower the price of the first iPads but around 200 € (iPad: from 299 € / iPad 2: from 499 €), the buyer would probably much more willing to forego the new iPad 2 and, instead, for the first generation to decide. However, Apple would be able to achieve a reduction in price by 200 € very little profit, which can not be in the interests of the company.
Option 2: Apple iPad takes from the range
Apple’s second option to proceed with the first Apple iPad would cost less work, but will bring no profit. In this variant would have Apple selling the first iPads stop completely and take the Tablet PC from its own inventory.
So that Apple would put the entire focus on the iPad 2, which would be problematic in that the first would iPad removed after less than a year on the market again from this. As a customer you consider in this case twice, if you want to spend much money on a product that in less than one year “of date” already is.
Apple could also generate a removal of the first iPads no more profit with the first generation of Tablet PCs, which should be evaluated in comparison to less profit on a price cut even more negative.
Gives you the words of Steve Jobs in an earlier interview with Wired.com faith, then a removal of the first iPads from the App Store in release of the second generation still likely are the option:
And as the iPad 2, the future of Tablet PCs will be made by Apple; there are indications that Apple will take the first iPad next year already on the market. Apple may also surprise with a completely different version, which no one has yet anticipated.
